The subject areas reflect all important themes moving the tourism sector and include, among others, ecotourism, sustainable development, finance and investment, risk and crisis management, market research, tourism statistics and poverty alleviation. The Tourism Factbook
The Elibrary includes a vast collection of the latest statistical information about tourism. The online version of the World Tourism Factbook is a source that offers access to the most up-to-date statistics on inbound and outbound tourism for more than 200 countries and territories. The spreadsheets include information on hotels and other accommodation establishments (arrivals, departures, length of stay, number of rooms, occupancy rate), purpose of visit (business, professional, leisure, recreation, holidays, activities), modes of travel (air, rail, road, boat and cruise passengers), national and international trips (arrivals at frontiers, same-day visitors, domestic tourism), and the economic aspects of tourism (economic aggregates, exports [F.O.B.], imports [C.I.F.], Gross National Product [GNP], tourism expenditure in the country of reference, tourism expenditure in other countries, etc.). This resource is not only useful for libraries with a special focus on the field of tourism but also for many academic and public libraries. The e-unwto is a fully cross-searchable interactive database offering a vast number of high-quality UNWTO publications including books, journals, and statistics in their respective languages.
