The Jamaica Tourist Board launched its Experience Jamaica campaign on Tuesday, May 8 with a trade show at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel. From now until December 15, Jamaican residents can access discounts of up to 50% at participating hotels and attractions.

 

A list of Experience Jamaica partners can be found at:

www.visitjamaica.com/experiencejamaica. The campaign will mount a series of promotional events across the island over the next few weeks.

Green Grotto Caves has become the first tourist attraction in Jamaica to receive platinum certification from Earthcheck for environmental best practices. EarthCheck is an internationally recognised environmental and management certification programme designed for the travel and tourist industry .The attraction received the certification in April and will be platinum certified for one year, a statement from the Urban Development Corporation said. In making its assessment, Earthcheck examines key environmental indicators such as energy, water consumption, total waste production, and community commitments to determine an operator’s standard of performance. Platinum certification ranks the attraction as a leader among international sustainable tourism operators.

The all-inclusive SuperClubs chain has announced that it will sell the Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Spa in Jamaica to the owners of the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa. The resort will remain open as an all-inclusive property under the new owners, Sagicor Life Jamaica. The property will be rebranded to The Jewel Runaway Bay Resort effective June 1, 2012. Sagicor Jamaica CEO Richard Byles said the 266-room hotel will be renovated and expanded.
