This week Jamaica mourns the loss of Professor Rex Nettleford, Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the University of the West Indies. Nettleford, a Rhodes Scholar and founder of the National Dance Theatre Company passed away on February 2, one day before his 77th birthday. Professor Nettleford was an exemplary man of wisdom and vision who inspired cultural pride and instilled a sense of self worth in the minds of Jamaicans and Caribbean nationals at large.
